“O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?”
In our nation, we have the free will to vote for whomever we choose. How we vote will determine the direction this nation is going in the future. As Christians, we must get out and vote. But, how you vote will determine the hand of God and His grace over this nation.
What does the Lord have to say about walking upright?
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.” Psalm 84:11 (ESV)
“Do two people walk together, if they have not agreed?” Amos 3:3
How we vote reflects what we truly believe. In this time of conflict, we must choose to vote righteously-morally. If we don’t speak out against unrighteousness then injustice will reign.
Can we walk upright before God and be double minded at the same time? Can two people walk together if they don’t agree?
A double-minded believer is someone who is constantly living in a state of compromise. Half of you lives for God, while the other half compromises what you say you believe. Hence, you are “double-minded.” As believers we cannot be double-minded on the issues at hand – sanctity of life, abortion, marriage, family, race…etcetera.
I consider myself a “true believer” in God and the Word of God. My journey has been a journey of faith. When I began my walk with the Lord a lot of my thinking had to change in order to line up with the truth in His Word.
Like many of you, I have concerns with both candidates. The thought of voting in this coming election has been grievous to me as I watch the discord and disunity among our nation’s leaders and political parties.
What I do understand is that regardless of how I may feel personally, it is not only my right as a citizen of this great country, but also my God-given right as a believer to vote. I fully intend to exercise my God-given right to cast my vote in this most crucial presidential election.
This election involves so much more than just the office of president of the United States. It also involves local, state and federal elections, voting for senators, representatives, governors, mayors, judges and a number of propositions on the ballot.
Some of you may be dissatisfied to the degree that you are refusing to vote. I am encouraging you to exercise your right to vote. By doing nothing we actually are voting for unrighteousness. Evaluate the Democratic and Republican Party platforms against the Word of God and see which one more closely aligns with His Word.
We need to exercise our constitutional rights and vote in this election. Clearly the choice is ours! I urge you to seek the Lord in your decision making and choose to vote righteously.
“Seek the Lord while He may be found, call you upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon.”
YOUR VOTE COUNTS!
