As long as we are content to live without revival, we will.
I am convinced now more than ever, that revival is the only hope for our nation. In light of the recent events – earthquakes, massive flooding, severe thunderstorms, the threat of the Zika virus, police shootings, racial tension, political uprising, and more we need revival. “All these are the beginning of sorrows.” Matthew 24:8 (KJV)
The Word of the Lord clearly says that we are living in perilous times. With that being said, we also know that as gross darkness covers the earth, the glory of the Lord will appear upon His people.
“See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” Isaiah 60:2
It’s time for the Church to arise from its sleep! “Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.” Ephesians 5:14
In these days of deep darkness and moral compromise, the body of Christ needs to awaken from its sleep and seize the moment we’ve been given. We cannot afford to continue to compromise the truth of God’s Word; to remain a sleeping giant.
Have we lost our saltiness? Has the light grown dimmed?
The Bible says in Matthew Chapter 5, we are the salt and the light of the earth. “You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that[a] they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:13-16 (ESV)
Salt gives flavor and zest to food; it serves as a preservative that works when it penetrates food. Salt becomes useless when contaminated by other chemical substances. It must remain pure to do its job. As Christians, we bring change to the world around us as salt brings flavor to food.
When salt is contaminated it becomes corrosive and poisonous. If we have allowed disobedience, carelessness and indifference to rule our lives, we have become contaminated and have lost our saltiness. We need to confess our sin and let the Lord restore us to the purpose for which we were called. “Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus,” Acts 3:19-20
Similarly, light penetrates darkness. Jesus says that Christians, likewise, must penetrate culture while keeping themselves from being influenced by sin in the world. To know the truth and fail to stand for it, Jesus says, is as senseless as lighting a lamp and putting it under a basket.
As Christians we are to have influence in the world. In other words, we don’t just live out our faith inside the walls of our churches and in our homes. We’re not to be of the world, but we’re to be in the world to influence our culture for the building up of the Kingdom of God.
He is returning for a glorious Church without spot or wrinkle, until then we are called to be the “salt and light” of the earth having a positive impact on our culture for Christ.
I encourage you to pray for revival! It’s time for us to go after revival with full force!
A faithful minister of Christ on your behalf speaking the truth in Love!
